| "Have You Seen Lisa Olson's new Pregnancy System yet? It's called "Pregnancy Miracle" I've read the whole thing (all 250 pages) and there's some great information in there about how to naturally get pregnant without drugs, surgery or any kind of gimmicks. I highly recommend it - it's very honest and straightforward without all the hype and b.s. you see all over the net these days. My doctor identified a hormonal imbalance I have consistant with PCOS – higher male hormone (androgens or something), which was causing me not to ovulate and to have longer cycles. Because I was told it was only a mild case, she was reluctant to try any medications until I had been trying to get pregnant for 12 months without any luck – then I was to go back and see her. I decided to tackle the condition myself. I am not sure whether I have an insulin resistance that a lot of people with PCOS have, but read that an insulin-resistance diet helps those with PCOS with or without insulin-resistance, and the underlying cause of PCOS is insulin problems. Insulin regulates the sex hormones, if your body can’t handle the insulin, your sex hormones get all out of wack – usually with greater presence of male hormone. This then causes anovulation. Anyway, I adopted an insulin-resistance diet and started taking minerals chromium, magnesium. manganese, and something else (can’t remember), as these are proven to aid in regulating your body’s insulin production and your resistance. The supplement I took was called ’sugar balance’ by Blackmores, it is actually meant to aid in weight loss, but the ingrediants in it were consistant with the ones proven to assist in insulin resistance. I also started exercising – not to the extreme, but I started going for long fast walks and the occasional jog. So after all this my cycles went from anout 55 days to 30 – 34 days and I started ovulaing again, I am now 22 weeks along. With or without the insulin resistance, I believe this can help – as adopting insulin resistance diets etc have proven to aid in PCOS, even if you don’t have the resistance.
I have also heard that people with insulin resistance and a worse case of PCOS get put on metformin to aid in the resistance, and clomid to help them ovulate – I have heard many many succes storiies on this, so it is worth seeing a doctor about these options too.
i have pcos, and am actually talking to my dr tomorrow… again! there are actually some fertility medications your OBGYN can give you, before you try ivf or iui (hopefully that wont happen) the two most common medications are metformin and clomid. metformin will regulate your cycles, to help you ovulate, and clomid makes you ovulate. the both can make you very nauseous, so i recommend taking them before you go to bed (so you sleep through the worst part) some dr’s put you on both at TE same time. the only real problem w/ clomid is that your chances of multiples increase. dint worry, pcos is the leading cause of infertility and is very fixable for conceiving!
good luck lots of baby dust your way!
i have pcos and i had to have surgery:
d&c
laparoscopy
hysteroscopy
removal of two polyps–non cancerous
and, ovarian drilling drilling over 70+ cysts off of each of my ovaries
13 months later i got pregnant with my son after taking clomid and doing artificial insemination three times along with trigger shots called profasi. i conceived my son with zero drugs–we had taken a break and that was when it happened. and he just turned 4 this past june.
i also got pregnant in june of 2007 by surprise–sadly i miscarried at just 8 weeks and 3 days.
our son is our miracle. best tip i can give you is to find an excellent fertility doctor that can monitor your cysts, and have your ebst interests at heart.
there are new drugs femara is like clomid only less chance of conceiving multiples. there are also shots that one can take–get a great fertility doctor–best thing you can do for yourself. good luck and god bless!
i was diagnosed with PCOS 4 years ago ( im currently 20 years old) , and i thought i could never had kids , until I got married 2 years ago… and a year after I started going to my doctor to help me get pregnant , I started exercising , like more playing sports , I stopped taking clomid in june , and since then I had normal periods , and I stopped thinking about getting pregnant , and relaxed. And voila , in august I found out I was 6 pregnant . Dont stress out , chill , relax and have fun.
9 weeks preggy tomorrow.
