Simple Pain Relief For Ovarian Cyst Symptoms (PCOS)
Simple Pain Relief For Ovarian Cyst Symptoms (PCOS)
PCOS or Poly-Cystic Ovarion Syndrome can affect women at any age.
Many women who have ovarian cysts remain blissfully unaware, as they experience no symptoms whatsoever. For others though, the situation is very different, with daily pain becoming a way of life. Despite this, many find conventional treatment pain relief for ovarian cyst symptoms to be unacceptable.
It is estimated that a 95% of women who use conventional treatments, such as the birth control pill or even surgery go on to have symptoms which are worse than those they started with. One of the reasons for this is the fact that these types of cysts do not grow because of a virus or germ, but because of the subtle interaction of a number of different factors which happen to be present. These so called “risk factors” can include
- Eating an Unhealthy Diet
- A Build Up Of Liver Toxins
- Failure To Ovulate
- A Build Up Of Environmental Toxins
- Inherited Factors
- A Weakened Immune System
Even medics can find it difficult to determine exactly what has caused ovarian cysts to grow in individual cases and this means that treatment can sometimes seem to be very hit and miss. To be successful, pain relief for ovarian cyst symptoms needs to be multifaceted and take into account all the potential causes, systematically working on each “risk factor” leaving no stone unturned. For this reason, this type of treatment may not be for everyone as you will need to be prepared to take charge of your own healing and take proactive steps.
Simple pain relief for ovarian cyst symptoms can include heat treatment. A simple hot water bottle or heat pad can work wonders and the heat can help to improve circulation which, in turn, can help reduce the cyst. A warm bath can also be very soothing and provide temporary pain relief. In addition, gentle massage over the affected area can have similar results.
It is vital to remember that, as with most natural approaches, there is not one single treatment which will form a cure ,although each small positive step you take will begin to relieve you of the symptoms. Natural remedies tend to focus on treating the whole person and eliminating all the possible causes which means that the root cause is eliminated.

I suffered from PCOS until I had my first child – although it is largely under control now, there are times when I have problems monthly. I’ve also been prescribed birth control pills, but they react horribly with me so I’ve stopped. I’m looking for natural methods now and will try accupuncture to treat my PCOS (poly-cystic ovarion syndrome) as I have heard and read that it can help control it.
This is awful! I have never heard about this before. I sympathize with anyone that has this. Is anyone doing any research on PCOS?
I am very confused about my diagnosis with PCOS.
I was told that while most women with PCOS are overweight, that it does occur in women who are not.
I am confused and worried about a misdiagnosis. I have most of the symptoms except the weight problem. I have the hair growth on my face, losing hair on my head, acne, no periods, and the ultrasound showed many cysts in both ovaries. I have never had a problem with weight. I never watched what I ate and exercise was accidental. I was active in sports and being outside, but I never really worked out. I have always been a naturally thin person. I am now only at 118 lbs. My heaviest weight outside of being pregnant was recently at 126 lbs. I have lost 8 lbs in the last couple of weeks and I have been so tired and have little to no energy. I am afraid that the medicine is not helping and actually doing me harm.
I can’t stand being this sick! I have diarrhea everyday and I vomit everyday. It is not good for my body to go through this for this long. I would love to know if anyone here has a story similar to mine. I want to know if this is normal and if I should just keep working through it. I have been on metformin for 4 weeks and I take 2 pills twice a day for a total of 2000mg.
Has anyone else suffered from mood swings? Somedays I’ll in a great mood and others I’m so ill and hateful. Most of the time I don’t even realize how ill or hateful I am until afterwards.
Wow – I am really far behind! My apologies for not replying sooner.
@Andrea – welcome to Personal Health Coach! Yes, birth control pills can help as can metformin. I’m sure you are under doctors care, so please remember to see them if anything changes.
@Janice – welcome! As with several womens health issues, PCOS is not on the forefront of research. I did find a site in Canada that has some information on the research being done – http://www.womenshealthmatters.ca/Centres/pelvic_health/PCOS/research/index.html.
@Amber – welcome to Personal Health Coach. Amber, I suggest you see a doctor if you have not already. There is nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to personal health matters. If you doctor is not able to help you, see if you can be referred to a specialist who will take the next step and perform any required non-invasive tests (most probably an ultrasound) to ensure that you are not misdiagnosed. A good friend of mine was diagnosed with PCOS and the stress just added to her issues. Ensure you have a proper diagnosis and work with your health practitioner so that you don’t have the same stress you appear to have. Your health is important to those around you, and to you!
@Terri – thank you for visiting us, Terri. Mood swings, as I have read, are part and parcel. If anyone has heavy periods, I can’t imagine them being in a good mood all the time! If you are finding that your swings are very frequent, speak to your doctor.
hey!
I was diagnosed last year with pcos, i am on yasmanelle bc pills, but still have pelvic pain which goes into spasms sometimes and its difficult to do anything with it. My periods are quite irregular and only stay for 4 days at the most.
