pcos????????

I went to the doctor the other day about my irruguler periods, & not being able to become pregnant!
I said something to her about the possiblity of pcos….she said that there def. was that possiblity.
Well when I got my blood work back I realized that she didnt test me for pcos.
I was told that pcos affects your blood sugar!
The doctor did test my blood sugar.
My question is, since my blood sugar was fine, does that rule out pcos, or is there still that chance that it wouldnt affect my blood sugar?

Contrary to what a lot of people think – you DO NOT have to have polycystic ovaries to have PCOS… and if you have polycystic ovaries you do not necessarily have PCOS…
I have PCOS and I have found a REALLY great book that explains it all in detail. It is PCOS: Polycystic Ovary System, The Hidden Epidemic. It is written by Samuel S Thatcher, Ph.D.. It goes over diagnosing the problem, how to lose weight, fertility help, etc.
If you even suspect you have PCOS I would pick a copy up and read it.
It doesn’t always effect your blood sugar. I’m 15 and I have PCOS. But I happen to be insulin resistant. It doesn’t rule out PCOS because you have the irregular periods that probably last 15 days like mine and you are having trouble convincing.

im the same as you, irregular and trying to concieve, i have had 2 miscarriages, that i believe is becos i have pcos, u need to have a scan on ur ovaries to see if u have cysts on them, its a painless scan and it will tell u more than a blood test, the best place to go is to a gynecology department at the hospital
You can have PCOS and still have normal blood sugars, however its believed that all women who have PCOS have some degree of insulin resistence even if they arent diabetic. If she tested LH, FSH, Progesterone, etc then shes on the right track because PCOS can be identified by those tests. Hope this helps.
I also have Pcos and it mine was determined through an ultrasound that is the best way because it has to do with your ovaries and you not ovulating. what your doc needs to do is see if you have a low progesterone level as it is a symptoms also check if you have high testosterone.

I have PCOS and my blood levels are fine and i was diagnosed with it in 2005 they have sent me every year and it has been fine they found mine by testing my hormones because with PCOS you have the male hormone and they test for it and they also did an ultrasound and found that I have PCOS ovaries with lots of cysts and they put me on clomid and my 5th cycle I got pregnant and I am on clomid again trying to get pregnant and havent had any luck yet but I wish you luck!!!!! i read in your other question that you said you did not bleed after provera. usually pcos’ers do bleed after provera. could you check out hypothalamic ammenorrhea i don’t know if i spelt that right. it’s where you have low estrogen levels and so the reason you don’t bleed after provera is because the uterus lining wasn’t built up by estrogen in the first half of the cycle. good luck!x
p.s some symptoms are little or no cervical mucus.
They need to test more than your blood sugar. I’m being treated for PCOS as my insulin levels are high but my blood sugars are normal.
I also had the full scan and exam and I don’t have cysts either so don’t let people tell you that’s what it is.

i have just recently founf out i have pcos and the only 1 way to be 100 % sure is thruogh a vaginal ultrasound because they need to look at your ovaries althuogh i will say if your blood test came back fine its a good indicator that its not pcos
