I have been recently diagnosed with PCOS. My doctor prescribed me meds to help ovulate but I didnt ask if they will help with the hair. He prescibed Metformin and Bromocriptin. I’m afraid to shave it bc I dont want to do it for the rest of my life. Does anyone have any other solutions?

| "Have You Seen Lisa Olson's new Pregnancy System yet? It's called "Pregnancy Miracle" I've read the whole thing (all 250 pages) and there's some great information in there about how to naturally get pregnant without drugs, surgery or any kind of gimmicks. I highly recommend it - it's very honest and straightforward without all the hype and b.s. you see all over the net these days. Here's the website where you can get more information: Click Here --> Pregnancy Miracle |

The met should decrease the testosterone in your body, which should help with unwanted hair. At least the hair will be thinner and less visible. You are limited in terms of other medications you can use because you are TTC.
If you need to temporarily remove hair, waxing works best. Lase removal is the only long-term/permanent solution I know of, but it is expensive and does leave some scarring. Give the Met a chance to work. Once the testosterone goes down you should see improvement.
I can recommend a topical cream that you can put on the hair. But, it only works for re-growth. Example, if you have already tried to remove the hair by shaving, waxing, etc… I do not know of a product except for dipilitories that will remove hair. Again, once you have removed it you need to prevent it from growing back.
You can try Vaniqa. It takes about 8 weeks to really show results but it works. Very expensive though about $80.00 for one month supply.
I have PCOS and have stragles of facial hair and just pluck it otherwise I have tried waxing. Also there is a new dermatology facial lotion that is supposed to be awesome too just don’t know what its called. Try googling it! I was on Metformin not sure if it helped I can’t remember to be honest because I got pregnant quickly and they weened me off! Good luck and best wishes!
I have PCOS as well. Yesterday, I read an article that Spearmint tea can aid in preventing hirsutism (excessive hair growth). The tea helps to decrease male testosterone that PCOS sufferers have too much of due to a hormonal imbalance. I guess if you drink enough of it over time you will notice results. For a quick fix try waxing. It’s quick and if you do it enough the hair grows back slower.
Electrolysis or laser hair removal can help, as can medications like spirolactone, but the medications can cause birth defects if taken during pregnancy. Soulcysters probably has more information about what’s worked for other women with PCOS-I have a relatively small hair issue, sorry I can’t help more.
I was wondering if removing the ovaries would stop the hormone hair issue and other effects. If anyone has had them removed, did PCOS stop? There is no cure of PCOS, there is ways to live with it. Beware that in does increase your chance of type 2 diabetes. 60% of people that have it, there over weight.
